1). What is CFX_NOVA_JAVA?
 

CFX_NOVA_JAVA is a ColdFusion CFX tag that assists ColdFusion programmers develop applications that communicate directly with Elavon�s merchant services, to perform direct, secure credit card transactions via the Internet. Most users of this tag have been able to reduced their overall credit card processing costs to well under 3% of Internet based revenue by dealing directly with Elavon and cutting out the middlemen.

2). Why Use CFX_NOVA_JAVA?
 
The major reasons to use the CFX_NOVA_JAVA tag are:
 
  • The desire to save considerable money by dealing directly with the handler of the credit-card transaction (Elavon) and cut out middlemen or third party gateways such as the former CyberCash or Net Authorize.
  • The desire not to have to develop the skills necessary to design, code, test and certify the gateway code that connects the ColdFusion server to the Elavon server.
  • The desire not to have to develop HTTP or SSL programming skills.

4). How does CFX_NOVA_JAVA secure credit card transactions?
 

CFX_NOVA_JAVA uses SSL to encrypt data flowing between the ColdFusion server and Elavon�s server. This encryption level is 128 bit strong, regardless of the user�s browser. The HTTPS protocol, is a security protocol that provides communications privacy over the Internet. This protocol allows client/server applications to communicate in a way that is designed to prevent eavesdropping, tampering, or message forgery.

5). Who uses SSL today?
 

Most web-based online purchases and monetary transactions are now secured by HTTPS. HTTPS is the cross industry standard for securing the transmission of data across public domain networks.

6). How Secure Is CFX_NOVA_JAVA?
 

One way to think of the strength of the 128-bit encryption technology used by CFX_NOVA_JAVA is to compare the length of time it would take for a supercomputer to break the encrypted data into clean, clear, readable text. In this analogy, it would take longer than the assumed age of the universe (14 billion years), to break 128-bit encrypted data, using today�s computing technologies.

7). How difficult is CFX_NOVA_JAVA to install?
 

The Installation and User Guide provides specific instructions for installing CFX_NOVA_JAVA. The product and documentation is distributed as a zip file. Installation is completed by unzipping this file, copying the tag's executable to the \CFUSION\CFX directory, and then registering the tag as required by ColdFusion. The entire process should require only a few minutes.

9). What are the export limitations of CFX_NOVA_JAVA?
 

CFX_NOVA_JAVA contains encryption technology that is subject to the U.S. Export Administration Regulations and other U.S. law, and may not be exported or re-exported to certain countries (currently Afghanistan (Taliban-controlled areas), Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Serbia (except Kosovo), Sudan and Syria) or to persons or entities prohibited from receiving U.S. exports (including Denied Parties, entities on the Bureau of Export Administration Entity List, and Specially Designated Nationals).
